My studio is in Denbigh, a small market town close to both the coast and mountains of North Wales.

The inspiration for my work is derived from the rich textures found in eroded rock, together with the evidence of ancient mans imposition on the landscape; the work exploring the inter-relationship of these contrasting elements.

The making of my work combines a number of unorthodox handbuilding techniques. I enjoy working very spontaneously with the clay, attempting to capture both structure and disorder.

The glazing is again unconventional, making use of highly reactive and eruptive materials applied in multiple layers, often very thickly, creating rich textural surfaces. This process of glazing furthers the sense of geological quality and provides an exciting element of chance and uncertainty.

I fire the pieces in a gas kiln, varying the kiln atmosphere from light to very heavy reduction.
